This was a first for me. An email asking me if I can create something with the broken pieces of an antique German Stein that was in his family for generations. It was accidentally pushed off a shelf. My specialty is making functional trays using cut glass, china, or other reasonably thin/small tesserae, and protecting the result with a durable resin. This did not fit the category. Since the three “portraits” were not completely destroyed, I decided that it deserved a creation that would not destroy any more of the stein. I ordered a tray on Etsy, and decided to position the three sides of the stein so the story could be preserved. The tray was wired to hang, no resin needed and the memories remained in tact.
